Travel Report Dec. 6

Hey Everyone,

Again, the graph is still in a sorry state. I ended up staying at a Buddhist monastery for four days this past week while waiting for Elvis’ car to get fixed. I tried to minimize my screen time there and did not open my laptop once. So we’re still stuck with an ugly graph. One or two more weeks and I think I’ll have enough data to start adding some metrics around average weekly and/or daily steps for comparison along with ranges to spruce it up a bit more. Anyways, here is the graph for last week.

Perhaps surprisingly, the two large days in the last week were at the monastery (but so were the low days, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). There were a few hikes close by. The Coromandel Peninsula contains truly beautiful landscapes.

Even after obtaining Elvis’ car, we still did not quit the peninsula until today. We made our way to the east coast of the peninsula for a few beaches. New Chum’s was the best of them. From talking to some of the kiwis here, it sounds like it is widely considered the most beautiful part of the northern island. I cannot disagree with them right now, and I find it unlikely I will do so after seeing the rest of the island.

I’ll finally be seeing more of the north island soon, spending the next few days around Rotorua to see Hobbiton and a few other places which seem good adventuring spots.

I’ll see you where the roads meet.
